While not released in its entirety, the trailer for the Kingdom Hearts 3 opening CGI movie gives us a good taste of what the Skrillex and Hikaru Utada track will feel like, and not everyone is happy with the results.
Originally slated to be revealed in mid-January, Square Enix pulled the trigger a bit early when they cut together the Kingdom Hearts 3 opening CGI trailer. It’s already getting mixed to negative responses from fans, what with the song not matching the story and feel of previous Utada tracks. Take a listen and look for yourself below.
In the trailer, we see a recap of pretty much every Kingdom Hearts game ever, including scenes like Xion’s death, Sora and Riku versus Xemnas, the Birth by Sleep trio’s battles, Roxas and Axel’s confrontation, and more.
While the song may be lackluster in the eyes of some fans, there is something to be said for the amount of content jam-packed into this trailer. Going frame by frame, you could surely find new secrets left and right hidden away in quick shots of the many action sequences. The battle between Sora and Xemnas on the towers in The World that Never Was is beautifully animated, and we can’t wait to see more.
