Looks like we won’t be treated to Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “All the Stars” at this Sunday’s Academy Awards.
According to Variety, Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “All the Stars” from Best Picture nominee Black Panther will be the only Best Original Song nominee that won’t be performed at the Oscars.
According Variety, who was first to report the news, a source close to the project revealed that it all comes down to “logistics and timing.”
It seems like despite the Academy’s best efforts, they weren’t able to secure the artists to perform at this Sunday’s awards.
Those who’ve been following news surrounding the 2019 Oscars might remember that we recently learned Bette Midler would be stepping in to perform fellow Best Original Song nominee, “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though securing another act to perform “All the Stars” is a possibility.
In addition to confirming Lamar and SZA wouldn’t be performing, an Academy Source also told Variety that the Grammy Award-winning single would not be performed by another act.
The 91st Annual Academy Awards is set to air live on Sunday, February 24 on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific.
