Jurassic World: Dominion, as we now know it’s called, will bring back director Colin Treverrow, who directed the first film but yielded control of the second movie to J.A. Bayona. His first Jurassic World was a major hit, grossing $1.67 billion worldwide and currently pegged as the sixth-highest-grossing film in cinema history.
In addition to his directing duties, Trevorrow will also consult with Steven Spielberg and producer of Frank Marshall on the management of the growing Jurassic Park/World brand, which includes video games, toys, novels, animated Lego series and theme parks.
Steven Spielberg will also return to executive produce, and once again partner with producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley. Universal’s senior vice president of production Sara Scott is overseeing production on behalf of the studio.
Jurassic World: Dominion will star Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, reprising their roles as Owen and Claire from the first two movies of the series. In a treat for fans, it will also bring back Laura Dern, Sam Neil, and Jeff Goldblum — the three leads who starred in the original Jurassic Park.
The film will also bring in newcomer to the franchise DeWanda Wise in a leading role, as well as Altered Carbon’s Dichen Lachhman and Venom vet Scott Haze.
No details have yet been released about the plot of the film, though with the official title finally revealed, fans can now spend time predicting what dinosaur adventures our intrepid leads will be forced into.
Jurassic World: Dominion will be released in theaters on June 11, 2021.
