It’s not a Silmarillion movie, but it could be just as interesting: A biopic about the life and times of J.R.R. Tolkien is in the works, and Nicholas Hoult may portray him.
Deadline reports that Hoult (Warm Bodies, X-Men) is the current frontrunner to play the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit scribe.
According to the report, the Tolkien biopic “explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a fellow group of outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the ‘fellowship’ apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.”
A big name like Hoult’s could drive a lot of interest to the project.
