The Twilight Zone reboot is coming to CBS All Access, from Get Out‘s Jordan Peele.
The Twilight Zone is dead, long live The Twilight Zone!
Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone, which changed TV forever and inspired the current wave of anthology mystery series — most notably Black Mirror — is getting the reboot treatment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Considering that we’re drowning in reboots and for the most part, they aren’t all that great, this news might not seem that exciting — except for the fact that none other than Jordan Peele is spearheading the new series!
Peele, of Get Out and Key & Peele fame, has proven himself able to imbue both comedy and horror with genuine humanity and a curiosity about the human condition.
It will be very interesting to see what he does with the Twilight Zone reboot, which captured the societal and technological fears of the 1960s in its original run. We’ll have to see how much Peele’s reboot distances itself from Black Mirror, if at all, and what kinds of stories the series is going to tell.
The Twilight Zone originally aired on CBS from 1959-1964, and the network last attempted a reboot in 2002. Peele’s reboot is slated to air on CBS All Access (home of Star Trek: Discovery and The Good Fight).
