Authors John Green, Markus Zusak have Twitter lovefest over ‘The Book Thief’ movie

John Green and Markus Zusak shared the love on Twitter, after Green saw an advanced screening of The Book Thief movie.

We all like to pretend that our favourite authors are real life friends, and it became a closer reality when Markus Zusak got in touch with John Green after The Fault in Our Stars author sang the praises of the The Book Thief movie.

Green may have called The Book Thief movie “a credit to Markus Zusak’s brilliant novel,” but this isn’t the first time he has praised the book. Back in 2006, Green reviewed The Book Thief for The New York Times, where he called it “the kind of book that can be life-changing.”

The Book Thief stars Sophie Nélisse (Monsieur Lazhar) alongside Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush (Shine, The King’s Speech), and Academy Award nominee Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves). Newcomers Ben Schnetzer and Nico Liersch fill out the cast, and the film’s unique narrator will be voiced by Roger Allam.

The film is directed by Downton Abbey‘s Brian Percival, and is scored by 5 time Academy Award Winner John Williams.

The international trailer for The Book Thief was recently released. The trailer focuses on the message that “words are life,” and includes a greater explanation of the plot for audience members who may not be familiar with Zusak’s novel.

The Book Thief premieres in the United States on November 15, 2013. It will open internationally in 2014.
