John Green has been honored with the Chicago Tribune’s Young Adult Literary Prize. The prize is given to authors who really connect with readers, and that is something Green does in spades.
“The Chicago Tribune’s Young Adult Literary Prize celebrates the connection between writers and young readers,” says Gerould Kern, the paper’s editor. “In John Green, we are delighted to honor an extraordinary talent who has established an enduring bond with young people everywhere.”
Green has won the Printz Award as well as the Newbery and an Edgar mystery writing award. This, however, is his first lifetime achievement award.
…I was really, really happy when I heard about it. I wrote my first novel and my second novel in Chicago. It was the place where I became a writer. It’s my favorite city. So it meant a lot to me.
Green has been working on his Crash Course series for YouTube where he gives lesson on world history that make it accessible for everyone.
