The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska author John Green announced the birth and name of his second child on Twitter this morning.
Our daughter Alice was born early this morning. Mother and baby are well. Father is overwhelmed with joy and gratitude.

Green announced that his wife was pregnant with their second child in February when he spoke with President Barack Obama on Google Hangout. He had asked the President to pick one of two names they had in mind if the baby was a girl. Obama chose not to select one of the names in case the child ended up not liking it. He proceeded to tell John to tell his baby to “don’t forget to be awesome,” which shocked Green and every single one of his fans.
The author tweeted at the President this morning to let him know about his daughter’s birth:
@barackobama Alice was born today. I told her not to forget to be awesome. Thanks.

Baby Alice joins her big brother Henry who is three years old. Congrats to the entire Green family!
Green’s The Fault in Our Stars is currently being adapted into a feature length film with Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort in the lead roles of Hazel and Gus. The film is expected to begin shooting later this year with a release in 2014.
