While in between Parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s Broadway opening, J.K. Rowling was chilling with Fantastic Beasts newcomer Jessica Williams and decided to drop some interesting news.
The former Daily Show corespondent, who is also a major Harry Potter fan, will play a Ilvermony Professor named Lally in Fantastic Beasts 2 and 3, Rowling tweeted Sunday:

It’s interesting that Ilvermorny will somehow play into future Fantastic Beasts films despite the Wizarding School not getting much action in the first film, and the storyline moving over to Paris for the sequel. We’re expecting Fantastic Beasts 3 to take place in yet another country, so how might Professor Lally be involved??
In a follow-up tweet Rowling added that Professor Lally will mainly be involved in the third movie:
You only see a HINT of Lally in Fantastic Beasts 2. Her true glory is revealed in FB3. https://t.co/8vyhdlU71m

Rowling has been in New York since late last week. On Saturday she got coffee with the American editor of the Harry Potter series:

And on Friday she found a Boggart in Times Square:

Wiliams and Rowling originally started talking in 2013, when the Harry Potter author messaged Williams about how much she admired her work on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. They later bonded over The Sims video game and William’s love for the Wizarding World.
The Crimes of Grindelwald hits theaters this November, with Fantastic Beasts 3 slated for November 2020.
Editor’s note: Johnny Depp, who co-stars in this film, allegedly beat his ex-wife Amber Heard. These accusations were made by Heard and Depp’s former associates. J.K. Rowling responded to the controversy. Why are we telling you this?
