There’s no denying Emma Stone knocked it out of the park as Olive Penderghast in Easy A, but it turns out the role could have gone to another young Hollywood A-Lister.
Emma Stone recently participated in one of The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable discussions alongside fellow stars Mary J. Blige, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney, Saoirse Ronan, and Jennifer Lawrence.
During the chat, a fellow actress at the table revealed that she too had auditioned for the part of Olive in Easy A.
The moment came when the moderator asked if there was a line from a film that each of the actresses had been in that still sticks with them to this day. It was then that Stone revealed that she often recalls a very specific line from the 2010 teen comedy about a girl that gets swept up in the school’s rumor mill.
“‘Piss off, Quiznos.’ That’s from Easy A. I shove a Quiznos guy and say, ‘Piss off, Quiznos,’” said Stone.
It was then that J Law herself chimed in and revealed she read for the part of Olive.
“I auditioned for Easy A. I wanted it so bad,” confessed Lawrence.
“Well, guess what? You didn’t get it. You didn’t get it because you suck!” joked Stone.
We’re sure Lawrence could have put her own spin on the character of Olive Penderghast, but there’s no denying we can’t imagine anyone else in the role other than Stone!
Over the course of the roundtable, Stone, Lawrence, Blige, Chastain, Janney, and Ronan also discussed harassment in Hollywood, changes they hope to see in the industry, and much more.
