UPDATE: Lionsgate has now confirmed the cast of Jena!
Last night at the Teen Choice Awards, The Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson commented in passing on Jena Malone being cast in Catching Fire. The only problem was that Lionsgate hasn’t made such an announcement about Malone yet.
Malone reportedly was offered the role of Johanna Mason earlier this month, but since then there hasn’t been confirmation from Lionsgate. In the past two weeks the studio has announced the roles of Plutarch and Wiress.
“What about the casting of some of the next characters for the next movie?,” the reporter asked Hutcherson after receiving his Teen Choice Award.
“Yeah I’m super excited,” replied Hutcherson. “I think Jena Malone is fantastic. Amanda Plummer is fantastic. I think also Philip Seymour Hoffman is one of my favorite actors ever.”

We expect Lionsgate to make another casting announcement this week, and we’re hoping it’s either Johanna or Finnick (who will be played by Sam Claflin). The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released November 22, 2013. Filming is expected to begin in the next couple of months.
Thanks to Domi for the catch.
