The long awaited first trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is here, and it’s everything long time Kevin Smith fans hoped it would be.
Christmas has come early, as they say, for Kevin Smith fans far and wide who’ve waited nearly two decades for the highly anticipated Jay and Silent Bob sequel to hit the big screen.
The director took to Twitter on Thursday, July 18 (AKA the first official day of San Diego Comic-Con 2019), to drop a red band trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot a few days earlier than expected.
“SNOOGANS! Rather than make you wait until Saturday night after Hall H, we’re gonna show you the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot trailer RIGHT NOW,” tweeted the director. “IF you like it, come see the movie, me & Jason Mewes on the Reboot Roadshow Tour this fall!”

Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob’s (Kevin Smith) latest adventure finds the lovable stoners grappling with the harsh reality of a recent trend that’s been on the rise in the world of cinema: the Hollywood reboot.
It turns out, that old Bluntman and Chronic movie that was based on them is getting the reboot treatment.
Fans of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back will undoubtedly recall that the original Bluntman and Chronic movie found Jason Biggs and James Van Der Beek porting their unauthorized likeness on screen.
This time around Hollywood is taking some liberties with the plot — they’ve even cast a female chronic who will grace the silver screen in the reboot. That is, if Jay and Silent Bob don’t stop it from happening first!
Upon hearing word of the reboot, the self-proclaimed hetero life mates set out on yet another trek to Hollywood in an effort to stop the movie from being made before it’s too late.

The trailer itself features tons of appearances from familiar faces Kevin Smith fans will undoubtedly recognize from the director’s View Askewniverse including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Shannon Elizabeth, and of course Biggs and Van Der Beek themselves.
There’s also a slew of newcomers including the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Smith’s own daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, the latter of which plays the daughter Jay never knew he had.
Others who appear in the red band trailer include David Dastmalchian, Jason Lee, Joe Manganiello, Craig Robinson, Justin Long, Fred Armisen, Method Man, Redman, Bryan Quinn, and Tommy Chong. There’s also a line in the trailer that alludes to the fact that Kevin Smith may be making a cameo as himself, which should make for an interesting moment!
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is set to hit theaters on October 15, 2019.
