Larry and Piper’s destroyed relationship will seemingly not be an aspect of Orange is the New Black season 3.
Actor Jason Biggs told the New York Daily News this week that he won’t be appearing in the Netflix dramedy’s third outing. “They’re not focusing on Larry at the moment,” he said. “Larry will not be in season three. But there’s always a possibility he can come back.”
In Orange is the New Black season 2, Larry began having an affair with Piper’s best friend Polly after her husband went away on a month-long business trip. The new couple ended up visiting Piper in prison and asking for her blessing (She didn’t like it, of course).
In light of Larry settling down with a new woman, we can understand why his character is disappearing. Larry’s struggle to stay involved with an imprisoned woman was always a major part of the character’s arc, and that story appears to be over.
We don’t see a reason for Larry to come back to the show unless Piper and him were to get together again (Let’s have that not happen, please).
Netflix has yet to set a premiere date for Orange is the New Black season 3, but it’s expected to premiere over the summer. Last year, the release date for season 2 was announced at the very end of House of Cards season 2. Perhaps Netflix will pull the same promotional tactic this year when House of Cards season 3 premieres February 27 (A week from today!).
Are you happy or sad that Larry will be absent in ‘OTINB’ season 3?
We wouldn’t mind seeing him out for good, but we suppose it’s inevitable that he’ll return for at least a cameo in the future.
