Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is commemorating the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts by making a donation to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a series of tweets Saturday morning, Rowling said that she’d be skipping her annual apology for killing a Harry Potter character, and will instead make a £1 million donation to Crisis.org.uk and Refuge.org.uk.
Today's the 22nd anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, but I'm going to be honest and say that it feels inappropriate to talk about fictional deaths today. Too many people are losing loved ones in the real world. 1/4

Crisis.org.uk is helping protect the UK homeless population from the coronavirus, while Refuge.org.uk helps protect women and children from domestic abuse.
From 2015 to 2018, Rowling took to Twitter on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts to apologize for killing off characters in the Harry Potter series. The apologies have been a cathartic way to commemorate the day when Harry defeated Voldemort on the grounds of Hogwarts.
Rowling has so far apologized for killing Fred, Lupin, Snape, and Dobby.
