Irrational Games wants to have much more enemy variety in the upcoming Bioshock Infinite and one of the ways they are doing that is with the new “Heavy Hitters.”
A total of four “Heavy Hitters” will be featured in Infinite, each with their own unique look and characteristics.
“We perceived a lack of variety in the enemies in BioShock,” Irrational Games boss Ken Levine tells Joystiq. “There tend to be a lot of Splicers with weapons — that was the primary thing you dealt with — or there were a couple of them with plasmids. And then you had the Big Daddies. We really wanted to broaden out the pool [for BioShock Infinite].”
However, Levine notes the team is not intending for the enemy type to be this game’s version of the Big Daddy.
The first heavy hitter, dubbed “The Handyman,” was shown off in the original trailer for the game. The second, known as “The Motorized Patriot,”essentially a twisted George Washington with a machine gun, is put on display in a new trailer released by the developer which you can see below.
Bioshock Infinite is set for release October 16 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
