New reports confirm that Marvel have decided to adapt The Inhumans into a movie, hiring Joe Robert Cole as the film’s screenwriter.
Vin Diesel, who voiced Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, revealed a hint that he may be part of Marvel’s Inhumans adaptation. There was no sign that Marvel was working on Inhumans other than Diesel’s hint in a Facebook update, but now Collider has an exclusive which reveals that Marvel is “moving forward” with the adaptation.
According to Collider’s sources, Marvel have plans to adapt The Inhumans in a somewhat similar fashion as Guardians of the Galaxy. Which isn’t surprising since it was a comic that was also fairly unknown to the general public and ended up being a hit at the box office.
Joe Robert Cole has written a treatment for Inhumans and Marvel is reportedly pleased with what the writer has come up with. Now the plan is to take the script to new directors to get an idea of who would be interested and what they have in mind for the adaptation.
For those unfamiliar with The Inhumans, they were created by some interesting alien experiments on homo-sapiens according to Marvel’s Inhumans wiki.
The alien race Kree were behind the experiments, but abandoned their work and the Inhumans would go on to form a society of their own, which would be led by the king Black Bolt and his family which includes Karnak, Triton, Medusa, Gorgon, Crystal, Lockjaw and Maximus the Mad.
It’s definitely another Guardians of the Galaxy type adventure, where we’re being introduced to at least half a dozen new superheroes with interesting powers and more importantly we’re sticking to space as the film’s background.
Their sources reveal that this isn’t an additional film for Marvel, but will take up one of the release dates that we’ve recently seen Marvel confirm over the last few weeks.
For now we don’t know who will be directing the film, or if Cole’s treatment will be used, but Marvel is clearly moving forward with this series and we should be hearing more about this film in the next few months.
