In a Heartbeat is an animated short film by Beth David and Esteban Bravo that shows sometimes you just have to give the heart what it wants!
It’s rare to see an animated short about two gay kids. The description for the little film says:
“A closeted boy runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.”
Watch In a Heartbeat below:
The video simultaneously breaks your heart and then melts it back together. It starts out with a red-headed boy hiding away from his crush, another boy. But his heart is not to be contained and can’t help but going after his crush. The heart is so excited to be near the one it wants. The red-headed boy is scared, though, and tries to hide.
The heart is not to be deterred, and goes after its crush once again. When both the boys are holding the heart, the red-headed boy doesn’t want the rest of the school to see and judge, so he rips the heart away, breaking it in the process, leaving each of them with a half. In the end, the boys put the heart back together prove that their love is just as beautiful as anyone else’s.
