Hulu released their first teaser for Shrill starring Aidy Bryant. It’s a fun first look that will have you dying for the show’s premiere.
Hulu is bringing us a series adaptation of Lindy West’s book, Shrill starring Aidy Bryant. It’s an exciting move for the streamer, as the show not only tells an engaging story of a strong woman chasing her dreams, but it also tells the story of a fat woman without depicting her as this sad, lonely woman who works to become skinny.
The series is a big win for body type diversity, and it looks like Shrill will be an absolutely hilarious and delightful show. Hulu released the first teaser, and it has got us so ready for the show itself to premiere.
This teaser is short, obviously, but it gives us a really great picture of the tone of the show, and if the trailer had us laughing that much, we can’t wait for the series premiere. Shrill looks like it is going to be a hilarious and all-too-relatable show.
Shrill follows a young woman, played by Aidy Bryant, who is working to change her life and kickstart the career of her dreams. However, she has to balance her work life with a string of crappy boyfriends, caring for a sick parent, and dealing with a perfectionist boss. Happily, “losing weight,” “become thin,” or “achieve the perfect body,” isn’t a part of the equation for this better life Bryant’s character searches for.
It is so rare that a television show or a movie shows a fat woman as anything more than a punchline, and it is even rarer to see a fat woman onscreen who isn’t worried at all about her size. It’s a refreshing change of pace, and we can’t wait to see how it plays out when the show premieres on Hulu in March.
Shrill is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and Elizabeth Banks and was co-written by Bryant, Lindy West, and Ali Rushfield. The series premiere is on Hulu on March 15.
