It’s finally the day of the premiere for The Haunting of Hill House, and Netflix thought it time we officially met the family living in the haunted halls.
Netflix hasn’t kept it a secret that their new horror series, The Haunting of Hill House, would tell a different story about the haunted Hill House than the one found in Shirley Jackson’s iconic novel of the same name. Instead of focusing on four adults traveling to the house to prove the existence of the paranormal, the Netflix series focuses on the house’s impact on four siblings who lived in the home.
But who is this new family living in one of the creepiest places in the country? Netflix is finally ready to formally introduce us to them in a brand-new featurette introducing the heroes of The Haunting of Hill House, the Crain family.
The series will focus on the Crain children as both children and adults, weaving in how their supernatural experiences at Hill House impacted and changed them years after moving from the home’s haunted halls. While each of the Crain kids processed the experiences that night in Hill House very differently, it hasn’t stopped each of the kids from walking away forever changed by those events.
It’s what makes this show truly exciting. The Haunting of Hill House isn’t just a horror series, but it’s a family drama set on the backdrop of the classic haunted house gimmick. However, that grounding in real-life family drama is what gives weight to the terror and the ghosts–whether those ghosts be literal or not remains to be seen–haunting each of the Crain children into adulthood.
Luckily, you can watch the family drama and horrors unfold for yourself right now. The Haunting of Hill House is available to stream only on Netflix.
