Harry Styles is heading to primetime this fall and not in the way you might expect!
According to The Washington Post, former One Direction member Harry Styles is officially set to serve as an executive producer on a new sitcom coming to CBS this fall.
News of Styles’ producer credits came straight from CBS scheduling chief, Kelly Khal, who revealed the news on Wednesday (May 16) morning via a conference call.
Titled Happy Together the upcoming series stars Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens West. The pair play a couple in their 30s who are happily married and living in the suburbs. Their life in the suburbs gets a major shakeup, however, when a young pop star (played by Australian actor Felix Mallard) unexpectedly moves into their house.
So how did the “Sign of the Times” singer get involved with the new CBS sitcom? As it turns out, Happy Together also happens to be loosely based off of Styles’ real life living situation.
Styles’ co-producer on the forthcoming series is none other than friend and notable British producer Ben Winston.
Back in the early days of One Direction, Styles actually found himself living in a very similar situation as the one Happy Together is based off of when he was crashing with Winston and his wife in the suburbs of London.
Though Styles and Winston have been pals for quite a while, Happy Together isn’t the first time the pair have teamed up.
Their working relationship dates back to Styles’ One Direction days where Winston served as music video director for some of the band’s biggest singles including “Best Song Ever,” “Midnight Memories,” “Story of My Life,” and “You & I.”
Fans interested in checking out Happy Together can tune into the new sitcom this fall, where it will be airing Mondays at 8:30 p.m. following The Neighborhood.
