Exciting Star Wars news was leaked today – Harrison Ford, among some other original Star Wars actors, shares his thoughts on returning to the upcoming sequels!

EW reports that “sources close to the just-announced Star Wars sequel” state Harrison Ford, who portrayed the selfish smuggler Han Solo in the original trilogy, is open to the idea of returning to Disney’s upcoming sequels. However, EW also teases, “don’t be surprised if his contract includes a mandatory death scene for the sly old space smuggler.”

Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher new star wars film
A “highly placed source” also states: “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.”

“All three” refers to Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, who portrayed the original trio – Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo from Episodes IV, V, and VI.

It may be a while before we have true confirmation whether or not Ford, Hamill, and Fisher will return to the sequels. At the very least, a director and script will have to be in line before any of the casting decisions are made.

After Star Wars: A New Hope debuted in 1977, Ford’s acting career launched, which placed him in lead roles in high-grossing films such as Indiana JonesAir Force One, and The Fugitive. It’s interesting that Ford is open to the idea, as out of all of his roles that he has portrayed, he felt least connected with the character of Han Solo. He stated in a 2010 interview, “As a character he was not so interesting to me.”

Ford, now 70, will next be seen in the film adaption of Ender’s Game as Colonel Hyrum Graff, which will be released in 2013.

What are your thoughts on Ford, Hamill, and Fisher returning to the sequels? Do you think they should return? We’ll be sure to keep you updated in the future as casting announcements are rumored and confirmed!
