Hallmark has no shortage of romantic Christmas movies leading up to the big day. But in 2019, they’ll be adding two Hanukkah features to their schedule.
Crown Media, the parent company of both Hallmark and its sister network Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, said that the movies are still in the early development stages.
The title of one of the movies in development has been announced as Holiday Date, with the script currently being worked on. According to a spokesperson from Crown Media, Holiday Date will have “Hannukah elements… which is a lot of fun as Hanukkah and Christmas overlap in 2019.” The second has no title or details currently.
The last Hallmark title to feature Hannukah came in 2012, and was called Hitched for the Holidays. It followed characters Rob and Julie, who pretend to be a couple in order to keep their meddling families off their backs, only to fall in love along the way.
With seven years between Hannukah titles, having two new movies centered around the holiday had been a long time coming. Here’s hoping that more details begin to trickle out, so that we can get even more excited about further diversity in our Hallmark binge-watches.
