The latest trailer for Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur, starring Charlie Hunnam and Jude Law, paints a weird picture.
King Arthur. The man, the king, the legend, the… Fast and Furious reject?
There have been many iterations of the iconic legendary hero, but none quite like this eclectic take on Arthur’s tale by The Man from U.N.C.L.E. director Guy Ritchie.
It’s honestly best just to let the trailer speak for itself:
Charlie Hunnam plays the ‘street’ version of King Arthur (no but really, that was the tagline of the first trailer) with Jude Law as the villainous Vortigern, Eric Bana as Uther Pendragon, and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as ‘the mage’ (she was previously listed as playing Guinevere).
The movie has enlisted Merlin star Katie McGrath for a smaller role. The cast also includes genre faves Djimon Hounsou and Aidan Gillen, and features a cameo from British football star David Beckham.
The trailer is a little less out there than the original Comic-Con teaser, but still just so very Guy Ritchie; the attempt to make a modern action flick in a medieval setting is certainly interesting, but it might not be a gamble that pays off.
We’ll have to wait and see before we judge, but based on this trailer, it could go either way.

What do you think: Does Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur movie look like a genius piece of storytelling or the medieval version of Jupiter Ascending?
