New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ images feature Karen Gillan as Nebula

Marvel has released new Guardians of the Galaxy images which feature new looks at Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan as the villain Nebula.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s first clip was released earlier this month and showed Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in a sticky situation. Today Marvel has released some new looks of Karen Gillan as Nebula.

While we’ve seen a few of these before, they’re a bit higher resolution and give us a great look at the actress who went bald to play one of the film’s villains. Check out Nebula’s new look:

The Doctor Who actress’ transformation is nothing short of inspiring. Her commitment to go completely bald for the role has certainly paid off and her villainous appearance should be rewarded in what has become one of Marvel’s most anticipated films.

She says that Nebula is “unapologetically so mean. She gets such an enjoyment from what she does, and what she does is so bad.” Gillan says, “It really, really helps to change so drastically physically. I feel like people were slightly more intimidated by me.”

Marvel shot for the fences with this film and while it’s still a wild card we think this will be a major hit with audiences with its unique characters and great comedic elements.

Guardians of the Galaxy’s release date is set for August 1, 2014. Featuring an intergalactic group of Guardians, led by Star-Lord, they make a desperate stand to save the galaxy.

Two-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper voices the machine-gun-wielding Rocket Raccoon and is joined by Vin Diesel as the tree-like Groot, with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista filling out the leading roles. James Gunn directed the film.
