Grey’s Anatomy has found its newest cast member in Mackenzie Marsh.
According to Deadline, Charmed and Will & Grace alum Mackenzie Marsh has joined the cast of Grey’s Anatomy season 17 in a recurring role.
Marsh is set to take on the character of Val Ashton on the long-running medical drama. Interestingly, it doesn’t sound as if Val will be heading to work at Grey-Sloane Memorial Hospital.
The description for her character clues us in to the fact that she “works in publishing, but is extremely lonely.” She’s also described as being “intelligent” and with “a fun loving sense of humor.”
Either way, we’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing how Val ends up working into the fold of things when season 17 of the hit medical drama returns with brand new episodes.
Like many series across television, Grey’s Anatomy found its production plans halted due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, star Ellen Pompeo took to social media in early August to clue fans into the fact that the plan was for production on season 17 to pick back up again in a few weeks.
And speaking of the current coronavirus pandemic, viewers can expect to see their favorite on-screen medical professionals tackle COVID-19 in their own way.
“There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes,” executive producer Krista Vernoff told Entertainment Weekly in an interview back in July.
At the time, Vernoff hinted that they specifically plan to show how taxing the pandemic has been on medical and healthcare workers, which certainly seems like the perfect way for the series to address our current reality via the characters we love.
Grey’s Anatomy season 17 is set to premiere on Thursday, November 12 at 9 p.m.
