Graduation Day is the third and final book in Joelle Charbonneau’s The Testing series. It follows Cia on her journey to finally end the Testing, a brutal series of assessments aimed at picking the best and brightest to become leaders of The United Commonwealth. As the rebels move into place, ready to fight against the government, Cia must decide who is truly on her side and who is not.
Tasked with a mission by the president, Cia recuits the help of a few of her classmates, never sure which ones are truly on her side. Risking her life and the lives of others, Cia must put faith in people she knows have betrayed her in the past. But if she doesn’t, the consequences could be even more deadly.
The conclusion to The Testing series is here, and Cia must be ready for her graduation day one way or another.
‘Graduation Day’ review
Graduation Day by Joelle Charbonneau is the conclusion we were all hoping for in The Testing series. Even better than the last book, this finale starts off with a bang and keeps you engaged and enthralled until the very last page. With surprises and twists around every corner, it’ll be hard to put this one down.
Falling in line with the previous books, Graduation Day is the type of story that makes you think. As Cia must determine loyalies and figure out the consequences to her actions, you’re forced to play out each scenario in your head, knowing they all have consequences — some far worse than others. Though the action is still at the forefront of the novel, the intellectual nature of the story is one of the biggest highlights.
Another highlight to Charbonneau’s conclusion to this series is the way in which she builds the various characters of the world. No one can be trusted, even Cia’s closest friends. And those that have not been trusted in the past may just surprise you by the final chapter.
With the stakes — and the body count — higher than ever, Graduation Day explores the life of one young woman who must decide if she is willing to kill for the better of her country, or if she is willing to step aside and let others continue to decide her life for her.
You can add Graduation Day to your Goodreads list, or purchase it on Amazon or IndieBound. It will be released on June 17.
