“Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” is a game that has stumped and entertained movie fans for nearly two decades. With Google launching a bacon number search feature we want to know – can you find someone with a higher number than six?

A variation of the six degrees of separation theory, the game spawns from the actor’s assertion that he has worked with everyone in Hollywood – or someone who’s worked with them. Starting out as a student game at Albright College, the craze has given birth to a book deal, a parody commercial (starring the man himself) and many frustrated teenagers. The game takes the idea that every actor has worked with Bacon, or someone who worked with someone who worked with someone who worked with someone who worked with someone who worked with someone who worked with Kevin Bacon.

Google launches six degrees of Kevin BaconGoogle had made the fun time-waster easier than ever with a new feature of the search engine. To find out any actor’s degrees of seperation simply search their name followed by the term “bacon number.” For example, to find out how many actors separate the legend and Johnny Depp simply Google “Johnny Depp bacon number” (he’s a two).

The staff of Hypable got straight to work on trying to beat the search engine, but our attempts bore no fruit. After finding out that Barack Obama has a bacon number of two, only three degrees separate Bacon from Rolf Harris, and Rhianna is only three actors away from him, we realized that beating the system was harder than we first thought.

We even searched actors from some of Hypable’s fandoms, hoping that stars with relatively new-found fame may be harder to match. Alas, our efforts were in vain as every single one of our searches resulted in a bacon number of no more than three. Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all have a bacon number of two, while The Hunger Games‘ Jennifer Lawrence got a meager one (having worked with the legendary actor on X Men: First Class). Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may no longer share a bed, but they DO share a bacon number of two. In television, Glee‘s Darren Criss, Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith, Sherlock‘s Benedict Cumberbatch and Game Of Thrones actor Kit Harrington also have only two degrees of separation from the Footloose star.

With that in mind, we decided to put the challenge to you, our readers. Can you find an actor who has more than six degrees of Kevin Bacon? Share any interesting, funny or victorious results in the comments below. Winners earn a virtual slap on the back and self-satisfaction!
