Actress Lea Michele has tweeted what can be considered one of the first looks at Glee season 5.
“Feels so good to be home… #GleeSeason5,” Michele wrote on Twitter with the following photo of her on set:
Michele has been dealing with the death of her real life boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith, who tragically passed away in mid-July from heroin and alcohol abuse.
On Monday, the actress was in the recording studio for Glee and said that she was pleased by the first song she got to record. “Couldn’t have picked a more beautiful & perfect song to start the year with,” she tweeted.
It’s not clear what episode this photo Michele shared is from, but since reports indicate that filming only just started we can surmise that this is from episode 1. The Cory Monteith/Finn tribute that Glee showrunners are planning isn’t scheduled until episode 3. Fox president Kevin Reilly said last week that the tribute ep will tackle drug abuse, a topic that the show hasn’t faced yet.
But will there be any note of Monteith’s passing in the season 5 premiere episode? That’s still not clear either. In the scene pictured above, we do see Rachel/Michele in a somber moment that could relate to the character of Finn in some way.
Glee season 5 premieres Thursday, September 26 on Fox. Episode 1 is titled “Love, Love, Love” and is part one of their Beatles tribute.
