Good or not good? The Hunger Games lead actress Jennifer Lawrence was asked to explain the difference between film one director Gary Ross versus film two director Francis Lawrence and had an interesting answer.

It’s good news, the way Lawrence puts it. “They’re almost polar opposites, and both are completely perfect for these movies. Francis is kind of genius at building different worlds and transporting you into another world. The vibe on set is much quieter. Gary is very energetic. Francis is very laid-back and very calm.”

Does this mean Gary Ross would not have been good for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? We’re sure that wouldn’t be the case.

Nonetheless, elsewhere in the interview Lawrence commented on keeping her Katniss hair color and the work it takes to maintain. “I have to get it dyed every two days, or the blond pokes out,” she told Vanity Fair.

In the middle of the interview she spoke about how the popularity of The Hunger Games has led many Make-A-Wish children to come on to the set. She told a story of one girl she met in particular:

“On the first movie I met this girl, and I can’t tell this story without crying.” She hesitated. She was tearing up. “She had scars all over her body—burns—and she was telling me she was always so ashamed of the way she looked and she was so embarrassed, and now she has the nickname the Girl on Fire, but she loves it and wears it proudly. It gives her confidence. That was the first time in my entire career that I actually felt like there was a point in this. Not to sound rude, but it is stupid. Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”

So touching! You can read the magazine’s lengthy cover story here where she talks Silver Linings Playbook, Winter’s Bone, and of course The Hunger Games fame in detail. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013.
