In one of the best Game of Thrones opening sequence mash-ups yet, we get to see what it would look like if Legend of Zelda and Game of Thrones made a baby during the opening sequence, and it’s magical.
The latest Game of Thrones opening sequence mash-up recreates the land of Hyrule as it appeared in the classic video game, A Link To The Past, in a clockwork style seen in Game of Thrones’ title credits. Watch the beautifully mashed-up Game of Thrones and Zelda opening credits below:
It’s always impressive when some fans and incredibly talented artists get together to create something as beautiful as this opening sequence video. The merging of Game of Thrones and Zelda couldn’t be more perfect, as it hits on both our childhood and our current love for ancient civilizations and beautiful CGI.
The Legend of Zelda animation is jaw droppingly beautiful, and the artists, Kial Natale, Adamah Vanarsdale, and Edgar Abreu-Lanza, do an incredible job recreating the land of Hyrule. Not even Nintendo was able to do this kind of work in their Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
Link’s Master Sword is even featured in the video with a GoT twist at the end, which just made the nostalgia flow over us like blood on a pike in Game of Thrones, and if you look closely, you’ll see that the sun used in the video is actually the moon from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
Composer Mattia Cupelli is responsible for revamping Game of Thrones’ theme song, with a bit of Zelda, by using the harpsichord tune from “Song of Stormborn,” featured in the village windmill. Now, let us just pop in Ocarina of Time, and let this entire day go by in a flash.
If Netflix and Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda television series takes off, maybe they can purchase this amazing opening sequence.
Let us know what you think of the mash-up, and thanks to the animators over at Megasteakman who brought this amazing video to fans.
