Yet another milestone for Michiel Huisman to add to his illustrious career, as he is slated to star in Netflix upcoming horror series based on The Haunting of Hill House.
Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel has been adapted twice already, most recently in 1999 by Jan de Bont, starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Liam Neeson, but will get the 10-episode treatment by Netflix.
Huisman will tackle the role of Steven Crane, the oldest of his siblings, and supernatural writer, who pens a memoir chronicling his family’s time in residence at Hill House.
While it’s unclear how exactly this adaptation will tell the story, previous incarnations revolve around a family or group of people temporarily taking residence in Hill House and being tormented by supernatural events far outside their control.
Netflix had outstanding success with Stranger Things last year, which incorporated horror elements into an otherwise supernatural/science fiction story. Only time will tell if their take on the horror genre will find the same level of success.
You might recognize Michiel Huisman from his recent roles on Game of Thrones, Orphan Black, and Nashville.
