HBO’s The Last of Us has found its Tommy in Gabriel Luna.
According to Variety, actor Gabriel Luna is the latest to join the cast of HBO’s highly anticipated series adaptation of The Last of Us.
Based on the popular video game of the same name, the series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, two decades after modern civilization has been destroyed.
It’s there that we meet Joel, a man who gets hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. It’ll be easier said than done though, and together, the pair find themselves going on a harrowing journey in which they must depend on each other in order to survive.
For his part, Luna is set to take on the role of Joel’s younger brother Tommy. Tommy is a former soldier who still holds hope for a better world despite all that’s transpired.
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. vet joins previously announced cast members Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) and Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian).
Both Ramsey and Pascal joined the cast in February 2021 and will be playing Ellie and Joel, respectively.
Behind the camera, Chernobyl vet Craig Mazin will spearhead the forthcoming series adaptation. Mazin, in turn, will be teaming with video game creator Neil Druckmann to write the series, in addition to serving as joint executive producers on the show.
Others involved behind the scenes include fellow Game of Thrones vet Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells of Naughty Dog (the developers behind the video game), as well as PlayStation’s Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
