Fuller House season 3 premieres next week! Here’s everything you need to remember about Fuller House season 2 before diving into another season with the Fullers.
Fuller House season 2 was full of holidays and romance for all our favorite Tanners, Fullers, and Gibblers. We followed them through back-to-school, Halloween, Thanksgiving, DJ’s birthday, a high school reunion, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. In between the holidays there were some dance lessons, a Girl Talk reunion, and plenty of kissing.
So where did season 2 leave all our favorite kids and couples?

The Kids
Plenty happens to the Fuller and Gibbler kids throughout Fuller House season 2. Ramona comes to accept the boys as her brothers. Max continues to play the trumpet. Tommy learns to walk and says his first word. Though Tommy doesn’t have any romantic relationships in the season, the rest of the kids see plenty of romance.
Jackson continues his relationship with Lola in season 2. He babysits her pet Spot, who he learns is not a dog like he expected, but a tarantula. She is the only one who can cheer him up when he gets some poor grades and feels like there isn’t anything special about him. They even share a special kiss on New Year’s Eve.
Ramona wants to get her first kiss out of the way, so she kisses Jackson’s best friend Popko. Though the kiss isn’t romantic at first, they start to develop feelings for each other. He shows his feelings poorly when he makes a mean video of her. When he finally apologizes, she forgives him and they become friends.
At midnight on New Year’s Eve, Ramona gives him a high five. When he says he’s okay that she didn’t kiss him because he’s just happy to be with her, she falls for him a little bit an ends up kissing him anyway!
Max has a second-grade romance of his own during season 2. When he meets CJ’s daughter Rose, he quickly discovers they have a lot in common. They both love dinosaurs. Their favorite movie is Titanic. He takes her on a date to Ramona’s ballet performance. When he forgets to get her a Christmas gift, she tells him their relationship is about being soul mates, not giving gifts.
Jesse and Becky
Though Fuller House season 2 is peppered with plenty of cameos and guest appearances from original Full House characters, Jesse and Becky get a little bit more story time. Throughout the season, the two are fighting about their family. Becky wants to adopt a baby. Jesse doesn’t.
When Thanksgiving rolls around, their argument comes to a head. Though Jesse does some classic Uncle Jesse storytelling with Tommy, he decides he really doesn’t want more children after raising five of them already. Becky relents her pressure, telling him that what was important to her was raising a child with him.
Jesse finally comes around to the idea of adopting a baby and announces to everyone at Thanksgiving that he and Becky want to add another child to their family. After New Year’s, the two pick up their daughter in San Francisco and bring her to meet the family. They name her Pamela, after Jesse’s sister and the Tanner girls’ mother.
Kimmy and Fernando
Fernando moves in with the Fullers in Fuller House season 2. At first, Fernando overstays his welcome. In the first episode, DJ and Stephanie try to make him leave.
By the end of the season, Fernando has become a part of the family. DJ invites him to family meetings and beach trips (which, unfortunately for us, happen off-camera). He even becomes a father figure to the Fuller boys, helping with important milestones like one of Max’s big school projects.
Kimmy and Fernando — now that they’ve signed divorce papers and gotten re-engaged — also balance their relationship with co-parenting Ramona throughout the season. They have the ultimate couple’s Halloween costume, dressing up as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. Later, they help Ramona audition for renowned dance coach Giuseppe Pignoli (guest star Bruno Tonioli).
Throughout it all, they support each other and the rest of their adopted Tanner-Fuller family. Fernando, despite his rocky beginnings, remains a part of the family DJ, Kimmy, and Stephanie have built, pitching in at Thanksgiving and celebrating other holidays with the gang.
Stephanie and Jimmy
Stephanie and Jimmy have a whirlwind romance in Fuller House season 2. They meet when, in typical Gibbler style, Jimmy walks right into the Tanner backyard. Stephanie sings to him and they end up kissing! Once she finds out Jimmy’s Gibbler origins, Stephanie is hesitant to date him.
When they make a killer game night team, Stephanie agrees to go out with him. On their first date, she finds out that Jimmy works as a photographer. He’s even had some photos published in National Geographic. As the months go by, the two start to really fall for each other.
They work together at a haunted house on Halloween. They sit together at Thanksgiving. By the time Christmas rolls around, Jimmy says, “I love you.” It scares Stephanie at first, but eventually she returns the feelings — and the words.
By New Year’s, Jimmy is already talking about having kids with Stephanie. We’re reminded that Stephanie can’t get pregnant when she has a talk with Becky about adoption. When Jimmy takes that in stride, telling her, “That’s okay. Neither can I,” they realize they’ve found something special.
DJ and Matt
Fuller House season 1 ended with DJ telling Matt and Steve that she wasn’t ready to date either of them. DJ took the summer away from romance to focus on herself, and by the time we catch up with her in Fuller House season 2, she is ready to make a decision about who to date.
DJ has made up her mind too late, though, as both Matt and Steve have moved on with other girls. Matt’s romance with Crystal is short-lived. When he and DJ work together to help Cosmo after he swallows a corn cob, Matt starts to feel their spark again. He breaks up with Crystal, shows up at the Fuller house, and kisses DJ.
DJ and Matt start dating and quickly find their groove together. He comforts her with kisses when Thanksgiving day doesn’t go according to her plan. They map out a trip to Napa together, but when DJ and her family get food poisoning, Matt stays at the house to help take care of everyone.
Though there is plenty of love-triangle tension between the two of them and Steve throughout the season, they end season 2 in a good place. They are happy, love each other, and are excited to see where the next year takes them.
Steve and CJ
While DJ was finding herself over the summer, Steve started dating CJ. She’s strikingly similar to DJ, initials for a nickname, beautiful blonde hair, and all. Though Matt and Crystal don’t work out, throughout season 2 Steve and CJ prove they’re in this for the long haul.
CJ quickly becomes a part of the family, just like Steve. They attended the family’s Thanksgiving dinner. CJ even puts the table together when DJ gets overwhelmed with family drama. CJ and Steve celebrate Christmas together, putting together their own nativity scene.
During DJ’s high school reunion, Steve reveals to her that he wants to propose to CJ. Though he was initially attracted to her because of her similarities to DJ, he confesses that he’s grown to love her for herself.
When New Year’s Eve rolls around, Steve gets ready to propose. Even though he has trouble with the speech (eventually forcing DJ to propose on his behalf), he finally pulls it off. CJ says yes and the two seal the engagement with a kiss together at midnight.
DJ and Steve?
Even though he’s dating CJ throughout Fuller House season 2, Steve still shows how much he cares for DJ. When he first sees DJ and Matt together, he’s obviously disappointed. He even yells, “No!” In that same scene, he repeatedly calls his girlfriend DJ. CJ tells Matt and DJ that “he does that a lot.”
Steve also cares for DJ in some more sweet ways. He gets her a thoughtful present for her birthday, a pillow person just like she had growing up. When her New Kids on the Block tickets end up being counterfeit, he gets her some of those, too, but gives Matt the credit.
When DJ goes to her high school reunion, Steve shows up to rescue her from awkward encounters with other ex-boyfriends. They reminisce about their history together, see their names carved into the gym floor, and dance together when their song plays.
Though Steve also uses that opportunity to tell DJ he wants to propose to CJ, there is some hesitancy with his announcement. He follows it up by saying, “Unless you can think of a reason why I shouldn’t…?” seemingly trying to get DJ to admit if she still has any feelings for him. They end the scene by saying, “I love you,” and promising to stay friends no matter what.
In the last scene of Fuller House season 2, DJ reveals that she was originally going to pick Steve (I know, right?!). Though she’s happy with Matt now, and Steve is engaged to CJ, we never know where season 3 will take us.
