The PlayStation 5 will render in graphics at a blindingly fast rate, even when compared to the three-year-old PlayStation Pro console.
At an investor meeting in Japan, Sony Entertainment showcased the power of their recently announced PlayStation 5 with the 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. The game already looks great on the PlayStation Pro, but the load times of the game on the PlayStation 5 are lightyears faster.
The footage of Spider-Man loading on the PlayStation 5 displays a quick zoom through of the game’s Manhattan. While the game itself takes eight fewer seconds to load on the PS5 than it does the PS4, it’s seeing the game in action that’s the most impressive.

Spider-Man was likely chosen because of the level of detail in the game’s sprawling environment. Even though Spider-Man himself would never be able to zoom through the heart of New York City at the speed of the camera in the above footage, the processing power of the PlayStation 5’s SSD is nonetheless very impressive.
Where the PlayStation Pro struggles to keep up with the rendering of the entire environment at the camera’s breakneck speed, the PlayStation 5 does so without breaking a sweat.
Not much is known about the PS5 as of the footage’s release, with a written report previously being the only information that we had on Sony’s next home entertainment video game console. We do know that the PS5 will be backward compatible with PS4 games, a major selling point for those that have just recently purchased their first PlayStation Pro console.
The next Sony console has yet to be officially dubbed the “PlayStation 5,” yet the entertainment industry is leaning toward it being the next proper console in Sony’s lineup. There has yet to be an announcement on the PS5’s price or release date. With E3 2019 running in mid-June, it’s possible that Sony may use the Los Angeles convention to announce more details about the PS5.
