F9, the next installment of Universal’s Fast and Furious franchise, officially has a new release date.
Fast and Furious fans will have to wait just a bit longer before F9 speeds onto the silver screen.
On Thursday (March 4), Universal Pictures announced that the next installment of the hit action franchise will officially hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
The ninth installment of the blockbuster saga was originally slated to hit theaters last spring, but has seen its release date pushed back a handful of times due to continued theater closures as a result of the ongoing pandemic. The action flick’s newest release date pushes it back about a month (it was originally set to hit theaters on May 28, 2021.)
When Fast fans pick back up with Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), they’ll find him living a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, Little Brian. But peace isn’t ever quite achievable when danger is forever looming on the horizon.

It’s not long before Dom finds his quiet life upended when a new threat arises that forces him to confront the sins of his past. In an effort to save the ones he loves most, he and his crew will have to band together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high performance driver they’ve ever encountered. The man in question also happens to be Dom’s brother, Jakob (Jon Cena), complicating matters all the more.
The next chapter of the Fast and Furious saga isn’t the only Universal title that has a new release date.
In addition, the studio has also switched around release date for Minions 2. Titled Minions the Rise of Gru, the animated family feature will now hit theaters on July 1, 2022— a full year later than its previous release date of July 2, 2021.
F9 hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
