‘Fantastic Beasts’ set stalking: Have the cast started filming?

Several social media posts by a couple of Fantastic Beasts’ co-stars seem to indicate that filming on the spinoff has commenced.

Actors Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol, who play Newt’s muggle rival Jacob and Newt’s future-wife’s-sister Queenie, have recently posted a few interesting photos.

For instance, there’s this pic from Fogler who shaved his beard for Fantastic Beasts two weeks ago. It looks like Jacob will be sporting some light scruff during the film:

Despite shaving most of his face, it sounds like Jacob will be sporting a mustache? In two Instagram posts he name-checked his ‘stache:

Sudol is very excited to start this “#newchapter” of her life. She posted the following a week ago:

I got up and was going to do all kinds of stuff and then instead I got back into bed and have done no stuff at all. It's raining and it sounds so soothing and lovely overhead. So unbelievably excited to be here that I would do a cartwheel if it wasn't so nice and cosy in bed. Feeling so grateful and happy and warm and overwhelmed with love. #jetlag #london #newchapter #happiness

Perhaps the most solid piece of evidence suggesting Fantastic Beasts has started filming is this little joke Sudol made on her Instagram over the weekend (see the caption):

Fantastic Beasts producer David Heyman has previously confirmed that the film would start shooting in “late summer,” which lines up with these photos posted to Instagram.

It’s fun to follow the stars on their social media channels, because it looks like they’ll be pretty active as they’re filming! They also appear to be big fans of Harry Potter in general (Who isn’t?). Take a look at this tweet from Fogler:

We wouldn’t be surprised if the studio makes a formal announcement soon about the start of filming, so stay tuned!

The first film, slated for a November 2016 opening, stars (the Instagram-less) Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander.
