J.K. Rowling may be getting ready to introduce us to the Southern Hemisphere’s Wizarding World.

The Fantastic Beasts screenwriter made a couple of interesting comments on Thursday morning that might reveal the location of Fantastic Beasts 3.

Update (December 10): Following her hints in early November, Rowling said in response to someone who tweeted that “Rio de Janeiro is waiting for Newt Scamander”…

Also this morning, Rowling revealed that she finished the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts 3 a day earlier. She said in response to someone praising Crimes of Grindelwald:

Original story (November 1): The hinting started when Rowling uploaded new cover art for her Twitter profile, depicting one of Brazil’s most well-known cities in the ’30s, the years Fantastic Beasts 3 will likely be set in:

J.K. Rowling Brazil

When Rowling realized she misspelled Rio de Janeiro, she tweeted that she’s been writing the city’s name a lot in recent months:

So why is she writing it a lot??? HMMM? Could it have to do with Fantastic Beasts 3? The film we know she was writing over the summer, set within a series that is moving from region to region?

Finally, those who have been screaming “COME TO BRAZIL” at her on Twitter over the years are finally getting their wish.

It’d be wonderful to see what the Wizarding World looks like down in Brazil. I’m thinking it’s 10x more whimsical than it is in America or Europe.

Meanwhile, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald arrives later this month.

Editor’s note: Johnny Depp, who co-stars in this film, has been repeatedly accused of violence. He allegedly beat his ex-wife Amber Heard (read the accusations by Heard and Depp’s former associates). J.K. Rowling responded to the controversy. In July 2018, Depp was accused of punching a crew member on the set of a film in April 2017. In October 2018, Depp responded to the accusations. Why are we telling you this?
