Eddie Redmayne: ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ ‘so different from the first film,’ shows ‘Potter’ connections

Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne has offered some tantalizing tidbits about The Crimes of Grindelwald.

While promoting an animated movie called Early Man this week, Redmayne was asked about his Wizarding World franchise. He said that the Fantastic Beasts sequel is “so different” from the first movie, and that Harry Potter connections will come into the spotlight.

“It was so much fun to work on, it was so different from the first film. There was a kind of intricacy and detail in what Jo’s written that’s kind of overwhelming. It begins to, you begin to see all the connections to the Potter world. They come [forward].”

Redmayne is likely referencing the involvement of Albus Dumbledore, Grindelwald, Hogwarts, and… hopefully a few other surprises? Watch him make the remarks below:

In related news, today Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald director David Yates confirmed that each movie in J.K. Rowling’s series will take place in a different country.

“Jo’s already told us where [Fantastic Beasts 3] is taking place. It’s very exciting,” he said to EW. “This is a global story, ultimately. And given that there’s a global audience for this, it’s all the more delightful to take the story to different parts of the world.”

Fantastic Beasts 2, hitting theaters this November, will be set in Paris. Future countries remains a mystery, though some have speculated that this tweet was Jo’s way of revealing Fantastic Beasts 3, 4, and 5 will be set in

Editor’s note: Johnny Depp, who co-stars in this film, allegedly beat his ex-wife Amber Heard. These accusations were made by Heard and Depp’s former associates. J.K. Rowling responded to the controversy. Why are we telling you this?
