Waiting for Easton’s book hasn’t been easy, but he has finally arrived, and all I can say is, “Wow.” Check out my thoughts on Fallen Heir.
When we first met Easton Royal, we knew there was more to him than just the funny, easygoing Royal brother who has a tendency toward addiction. Fallen Heir is the beginning of his story and gives us a glimpse beneath the surface of the middle Royal child and the lady who has stolen his heart.
About ‘Fallen Heir’
Easton Royal has it all: looks, money, intelligence. His goal in life is to have as much fun as possible. He never thinks about the consequences because he doesn’t have to.
Until Hartley Wright appears, shaking up his easy life. She’s the one girl who’s said no, despite being attracted to him. Easton can’t figure her out and that makes her all the more irresistible.
Hartley doesn’t want him. She says he needs to grow up.
She might be right.
Rivals. Rules. Regrets. For the first time in Easton’s life, wearing a Royal crown isn’t enough. He’s about to learn that the higher you start, the harder you fall.
‘Fallen Heir’ book review
It has taken me a week, A WEEK, to put my thoughts into some semblance of order to write this review. Easton Royal made a huge impact on the readers of Reed and Ella’s story, so I am beyond excited to see him stumble and maneuver his way into some sort of happy ending… hopefully… we’ll get to that later.
I am so glad that the ladies behind Paper Princess decided to give the middle Royal child a chance to tell his story. He has suffered more than most after the loss of their mother, and after seeing how he struggled throughout Reed and Ella’s story, it was clear that there was more to this spoiled, rich kid than met the eye.
Fallen Heir did a superb job of giving us that glimpse behind the curtain of Easton’s facade that he puts on for the world. Beneath the millionaire playboy is a kind hearted, caring human who struggles with his own identity and purpose. Watching him struggle with meeting a girl that immediately makes him want more than just a casual fling is fun, heartwrenching, and anxiety-inducing.
Hartley is the only person who could get Easton to take a good, long look at his own life and really examine his priorities. She seems like nothing more than fresh meat to Easton at the start of the book, but as her story unfolds, you learn just how determined a person she is, based on the things she’s been through. I really don’t want to spoil any aspect of Hartley’s story as it all unfolds so intentionally throughout the novel, but she is a truly special lady.
I am dying to get my hands on the second half of Easton’s story, as this cliffhanger may very well be Erin Watt’s most cruel one yet. I… just… gah! No spoilers here, but this book leaves you desperate for the next chapter and whatever happens next will affect just about every character in this series. My heart is racing just thinking about it.
Thank you Erin Watt for embracing the cliffhanger ending. It gets a bad rap from readers who despise them, but I love the anticipation of an ongoing story and the anxious wait for more. Only 5 months to wait til Cracked Kingdom!!
Fallen Heir is available now at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Indiebound. Oh, and make sure to add it on Goodreads (and why not add Cracked Kingdom, too, while you’re at it!).
