Elton John just dished some amazing news with regards to the music of The Lion King that should make Beyonce fans incredibly happy!
Disney and director Jon Favreau have given us quite a few reasons to be excited about the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King. And yes, most of the reasons have to do with the star-studded cast they’ve tapped to play some of our favorite characters.
Now, it’s iconic composer and musician Elton John that’s giving us yet another reason to get excited about the upcoming live-action adaptation.
In a recent interview with The Sun, John revealed that he’s currently working on an all new original song for Beyonce to sing as part of the new film.
As Queen Bey fans are well aware, Beyonce has already signed on to voice Nala in the upcoming Disney entity, so the fact that she could be singing a brand new Lion King tune on top of that is like extra icing on the cake.
“They need to have a new end credits song,” said John in the interview according to Vulture. “There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original. ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight,’ ‘Hakuna Matata,’ ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,’ and ‘Circle of Life.’ And then there will be an end, closing song.”
That end song is the one John and fellow composer Tim Rice are hoping Beyonce will sing.
The iconic musician also went on to say that he and Rice are currently in talks with Beyonce’s people, so here’s hoping they can come up with something that the Lemonade artist will be more than happy to lend her vocals to!
The Lion King hits theaters on July 19, 2019.
