Ellen DeGeneres has reunited half the Friends cast! Watch Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox share the screen for the first time in almost 10 years.
Although the show ended almost 10 years ago, Friends fans are still hoping for a reunion special featuring the six main stars of the iconic sitcom, which aired from 1994-2004 on NBC.
While recent statements from cast members and Warner Bros. indicated that this will probably never happen, that doesn’t stop us from rejoicing every time two of the actors reunite on other projects.
And now, Ellen has brought Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Matthew Perry (Chandler) and Courteney Cox (Monica) back on the same screen, in this hilarious skit introducing Aniston as Ellen’s temporary co-host:
The skit shows Aniston arriving at Perry’s house to ask for tips about how to co-host the show.
When he brushes her off, saying she should have called first, she’s confused. “What are you talking about?” she asks, “we used to walk into each other’s apartments all the time… I mean, we’re friends.”
“No, that was a TV show,” Perry reminds her. “We haven’t actually seen each other in a really long time, like eight years.”
Aniston is shocked (as are we! But we’re already convincing ourselves it’s just part of the joke), and promptly states, “Now, David, that is not true!” And then she wants his ‘dumb jokes.’
“Just give me something to go on,” she begs. “Oh, don’t say Go On,” Perry replies, in a nice little nod to his recently cancelled NBC comedy.
And then, behold, Cox comes out of Perry’s house, and our Chandler/Monica shipper hearts explode.
There’s more name confusion and a little jab at Aniston, and then finally, as if this wasn’t already hilarious enough, Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi sneak past them, too.
And the final line, “LeBlanc, get out of the fountain, man!” is comedy gold. Too bad he wasn’t actually there.
If this is as close to an actual Friends cast reunion we’re ever going to get, then hey, we’ll take it!
