ABC has announced the casting of Dancing with the Stars season 22, and one of the most recognizable faces is The O.C. and Sixth Sense star Mischa Barton.
The full Dancing with the Stars season 22 lineup is below:
– Mischa Barton (pictured above center) with Artem Chigvintsev
– Antonio Brown (above left) with Sharna Burgess
– Nyle DiMarco with Peta Murgatroyd
– Kim Fields with Sasha Farber
– Doug Flutie with Karina Smirnoff
– Marla Maples with Tony Dovolani
– Von Miller with Witney Carson
– Wanya Morris with Lindsay Arnold
– Geraldo Rivera with Edyta Sliwinska
– Jodie Sweetin with Keo Motsepe
– Paige VanZant (above right) with Mark Ballas
– Ginger Zee with Valentin Chmerkovskiy
Fan favorite Sasha Farber is finally going to be a pro again after paying his dues for years as a member of the Troupe. In his first stint as a pro, he achieved the near impossible and made us root for Snooki, so we expect good things!
Tony Dovolani continues his run as longest-tenured dancer on DWTS, returning for his 21st season. He is paired with the controversial contestant of the season, former Mrs. Trump Marla Maples. This could be Bristol Palin all over again, where DWTS turns political (and gets insane ratings).
The original longest-tenured dancer, Edyta Sliwinska (who appeared in the first ten seasons), is making her triumphant return! We wonder: does her seeming aversion to clothes remain as strong as it used to be? Edyta never won in her ten-season run, so she is the most overdue for a win; if enough viewers remember her from years ago, that could take her far.
Derek Hough is sitting out a season for the first time in five years because he’ll be on Broadway this spring. That leaves the field far more open than usual, since Derek almost never misses the finals.
Lindsay Arnold returns as a pro, after seeing success with Alek Skarlatos last season when she stepped in for an injured Peta. Lindsay is paired with Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men, which was one of the few boy bands to never have a member on DWTS. More surprising is that Keo is once again in the roster, given his abysmal results in the past three seasons (which, to be fair, is more about the partners he gets than what he does with them).
This season seems to be doubling down on NFL players, with three of them competing. Will we see an all-football finale, or will they split the vote and all be sent packing?
Peta is paired with Nyle DiMarco, who will be the second deaf contestant to compete on the show after Marlee Matlin placed seventh way back in season 6.
Unlike last season, no one is absolutely jumping out at us as guaranteed to be in the finals. What are your predictions?
Dancing with the Stars season 22 premieres Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. eastern on ABC.
