‘The Dragon Prince’ season 2 trailer has dark magic and so many dragons

The Dragon Prince season 2 trailer takes us right back to the humor, drama, and dragons of Xadia.

The premiere of the animated Netflix series’ second season is only a few weeks away, but fans hungry for more can finally feast their eyes on new material. The Dragon Prince season 2 trailer sets the stage for an epic new installment filled with magic, camaraderie, danger… and Rayla’s human impression.

The new trailer sets up the personal, political, and magical stakes for The Dragon Prince season 2. In Katolis, Lord Viren sets up an existential threat for humankind against Xadia’s magical forces — though fans familiar with Viren may want to look for another side to the story.

The increased political tension adds new intensity to Callum, Ezran, and Rayla’s quest to return Zym, the ridiculously adorable and titular dragon prince to his mother. The presence of Soren and Claudia complicates things further, as, you know, Soren is supposed to kill the princes and Claudia has been tasked with getting her hands on Zym at literally any cost.

(Isn’t Viren is an awesome dad?)

And at the same time, Callum’s desire to prove himself useful takes a literal dark turn, as he seems to resort to Dark Magic to grasp the power he needs.

The synopsis for The Dragon Prince season 2 promises further adventures — and highlights the temptations of power. (And did we mention dragons?)

“The nine-episode second season follows Rayla, Callum and Ezran as they continue their adventure to Xadia. But the journey won’t be easy: every step of the way, they’ll be challenged by new foes and old friends alike. They’ll struggle with trust and betrayal, face down vicious dragons, and be tempted by the lure of dark magic, all while protecting the newly-hatched Dragon Prince, Zym.”

The Dragon Prince season 2 hits Netflix on Feb. 15.
