Get ready to see Dora the Explorer like you’ve never seen her before.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Paramount is officially moving forward with plans to bring a live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s hit children’s series, Dora the Explorer, to the big screen.
The studio has tapped some pretty big names to partake in the upcoming adaptation. For starters, Paramount has tapped Nick Stoller to come in to work on the script for the upcoming project. In the past, Stoller has worked on both Neighbors and The Muppets. His experience on the latter is sure to come in handy when bringing Dora’s adventures to life on the silver screen.
In addition to Stoller, Paramount also revealed that Michael Bay will be producing the upcoming picture along with fellow Platinum Dune partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
Though plot details for the upcoming film are being kept close to the chest for now, we do know that the forthcoming film is set to feature a pretty big twist that’ll separate it from the television series that inspired it.
On the hit Nickelodeon series, Dora is a 7-year-old girl, but in the upcoming movie, she’ll be a teenager who’s about to move to the city to live with her cousin, Diego.
There’s no word yet on whether the upcoming film will feature dora’s signature purple backpack, or her trusty sidekick Boots the monkey, but we’re sure more details will surface as the movie moves further and further into production.
The live action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer is expected to hit the big screen sometime in 2019.
