Don Cheadle will soon find himself sharing the silver screen with one of the NBA’s biggest stars.
According to People, actor Don Cheadle has officially signed on to star opposite LeBron James in the upcoming Space Jam sequel, Space Jam 2.
Unfortunately, fans itching to know more about the role Cheadle will be playing in the sequel will have to wait. Much like the plot of the movie, details surrounding Cheadle’s role in Space Jam 2 are being kept under wraps for now.
The Avengers: Endgame alum joins a previously announced cast chock-full of some of James’ NBA pals, including Golden State Warriors players Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson, Houston Rockets player Chris Paul, and Portland Trailblazers’ Damian Lillard.
Other actors who’ve also signed on to star in the sequel include Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery), Cassandra Starr (Sons of Anarchy), and Katie McCabe (27 Dresses).
Space Jam 2 has been in production for quite some time, but finally made some major headway behind the scenes just last year when LeBron (who also serves as executive producer on the project) brought on Ryan Coogler and Terence Nance to fill some key roles behind the camera.
Terence Nance, whose previous credits include Random Acts of Flyness), will serve as Space Jam 2’s director.
Meanwhile, Black Panther helmer Ryan Coogler has been tapped to serve as an executive producer on the project.
Space Jam 2 is scheduled to hit theaters sometime in July of 2021.
