Disneyland will soon be closing Tower of Terror to make way for a new ride called Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!*, but before then, they’re going to host a bit of a farewell.
The Disney Parks Blog has announced that a new Tower of Terror “Late Check-Out” experience will be taking place during Halloween season at Disneyland. The new event seems to be like a special “goodbye” to Tower of Terror before it closes in early 2017 for the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
From September 9 through October 31, after the sun sets each day at the Hollywood Tower Hotel, the attraction will let riders experience Tower of Terror in “complete darkness.” We suppose this means that it will have a bit of a Space Mountain vibe to it — you simply won’t see anything that’s going on inside. Fun/creepy!
In addition, “guests will find commemorative merchandise as well as special food and beverage items throughout the celebration. You’ll also get the chance to picture yourself ‘checking out’ with a special photo location in front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel marquee, complete with vintage luggage and other nods to the landmark’s story and the glitz and glamor of a bustling young movie town.”
So be sure to get your special merchandise and photos before Tower of Terror is gone (for maybe forever)!
Enhancing the goodbye party will be Buena Vista Street’s Silver Lake Sisters, who will offer special performances in the evening out front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
The Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride is slated to open in summer 2017 and will be the first step in Disney California Adventure’s stab at creating a Marvel-themed land. As the video below teases, other Marvel attractions are in the pipeline for DCA.
Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters in May 2017.
