Disney’s Rogue One spinoff series has officially found its showrunner.
According to The Wrap, Stephen Schiff will be spearheading the upcoming Star Wars series based on characters from Rogue One.
The new series is one of two live-action Star Wars shows currently in development and set to premiere exclusively on Disney’s upcoming online streaming platform, Disney+.
The other, is of course The Mandalorian, which will be written and executive produced by Jungle Book and Lion King helmer Jon Favreau.
Star Wars fans have known about Favreau’s live-action series for quite some time, but it wasn’t until recently that we learned that Disney and LucasFilm were also in the process of developing a second live-action Star Wars series.

Disney boss Bob Iger announced the Rogue One spinoff just last month. The series, which is being billed as a prequel to the story told in the 2015 standalone film, will find actor Diego Luna returning to reprise his role as Cassian Andor.
The series will follow the rebel spy’s adventures, which take place prior to the events that happened in the film, but during the formative years of the Rebellion.
For Schiff’s part, the newly anointed show runner comes with heaps of experience. Most recently, he served as executive producer and writer on the critically acclaimed FX series drama, The Americans.
We’ll be looking forward to seeing what he does with Disney+’s upcoming Star Wars series!
