We are all anxiously awaiting the opening of Disney’s new Star Wars land: Galaxy’s Edge, and Marvel is helping us prep with a new comic.
Though we still have a bit of a wait to check out Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Disney World, Marvel is helping us pass the time with a brand new 5-issue comic book adventure to tell us more about the world featured in Galaxy’s Edge and adventures at Black Spire Outpost.
The new comic will be written by Ethan Sacks (Old Man Hawkeye). Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge #1 will tell the story of the people who frequent Black Spire Outpost (smugglers, traders, merchants, and travelers) whose livelihoods are threatened when the First Order comes to town.
Sacks released a statement explaining his excitement to be a part of the new series, saying, “For me personally, this is a chance to fulfill a lifelong dream that started back when I was 4 years old watching the opening crawl for the first time at the Astor Plaza in Times Square during the summer of 1977. This new adventure, set in the wondrous – and dangerous – Black Spire Outpost, will have profound consequences for the Star Wars universe, and fans will be excited to see this story span through the eras and bring together some all-time favorite characters, including Han Solo and Chewbacca!”
The comic book will give us a great background to Black Spire Outpost, and is sure to get us more excited to visit the new park (if it is even possible to be more excited than we already are). With such a talented writer behind this creative mini-series, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is sure to delight and intrigue comic book and Star Wars fans alike.
While we’ll have to wait until the summer of 2019 to visit Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Fall 2019 to experience it at Disney World, the Galaxy’s Edge comic releases much sooner. You can pick up the first issue of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it hits comic book stores this April.
