The Ms. Marvel series at Disney+ has added another cast member to its ranks.
According to Deadline, actress Laurel Marsden has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Disney+ original series, Ms. Marvel.
The forthcoming live action series focuses on Ms. Marvel, a Pakistani American whose real name is Kamala Khan. Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old teen superhero who lives in Jersey City, New Jersey. Her abilities include shapeshifting, elasticity, and polymorphism.
Known as Marvel’s first Muslim character to headline her own comic book, Kamala Khan was created by Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, and first appeared as part of the August 2013 Captain Marvel issue.
For the series, Laure Marsden will take on the role of Zoe Zimmer. Zoe attends Coles Academic High alongside Kamala, and is described as being a popular girl who’s a frenemy to the titular teenage heroine.
As for Ms. Marvel herself, the studio announced back in September that newcomer Iman Vellani had officially scored the titular role in the forthcoming Marvel series.
Behind the camera, Bisha K Ali is set to serve as a writer on the series. Those who have already signed on to direct episodes include Bad Boys For Life vets Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon.
