Following the success of The Muppets in theaters last November, we had heard that Disney began work on a Jason Segal-less sequel.

Now we’re learning that another film isn’t the only plan in the future of the puppet characters.

The news came down via Disney’s European VP of marketing said:

I am looking at [the sequel] as we speak, it’s a really fun one to work on… what we’d do is ask what’s the right opportunity for the franchise… If you went down the television series route it could play on the Disney Channel but it could also play in primetime on a free-to-air network. We would look at a variety of different models.

The Muppet Show originally ran from 1975 to 1981 and was produced in the United Kingdom.
